Practice Guidelines

We regard as completely confidential all information concerning the business affairs of our clients. We will conduct all business activities in a manner that involves no representations(expressed or implied) that are false, deceptive, unsubstantiated or that otherwise have a capacity to mislead.

We make use of an "off-limits" policy with respect to our candidate recruitment so as to follow our own corporate code of ethics and to minimize potential conflicts-of-interest for our clients. The tenets of that policy are as follows:

  • We will not recruit or cause to be recruited any person from a client organization for a period of two years following a search.

  • We define the client organization as the total corporate entity, including all subsidiaries and divisions.

  • We will not recruit or cause to be recruited a candidate who was placed with a client for the duration of his/her employment.

  • We will disclose(to the client) limitations arising through service to other clients that may affect the scope of the search assignment.

We also maintain guidelines with respect to client and candidate communications. Those guidelines are as follows:

  • Relationships between Handler & Associates, its clients and its candidates are to be characterized by honesty, objectivity accuracy and an appropriate sense of urgency.

  • The progress of each assignment will be communicated by frank, comprehensive weekly reports.

  • In the unusual instance where a candidate misleads the firm or the client regarding his/her qualifications, the client shall be advised and the candidate rejected.

  • Prospects and candidates will be kept advised in a timely fashion and disposition of their candidacy.

  • Candidates developed through the search process will not be presented for client interviews without interviews in-person by our search consultant unless otherwise directed by the client. Thorough reference checks will be completed and submitted to the client prior to extending an offer of employment.

  • As the firm is retained and paid by our client to be completely objective in the evaluation of candidates, under no circumstances shall a member of this firm accept payment for counseling or assisting an individual to find employment.

  • The unsolicited transmission of resumes or referral of candidates undermines client confidence in the integrity and motivation of the search consultant, the search process, the search profession and our firm, and is therefore inappropriate.

  • Any business or personal relationships between the search consultant and the candidate that might affect (or appear to affect) the consultant's objectivity will be disclosed to the client before presentation of the candidate.
