Handler Announces General Counsel search for Allison-Smith Company
ATLANTA, GA. – May 4, 2026 We are pleased to announce Handler’s launch of a search for a General Counsel for one of our clients, Allison-Smith Company. This is an onsite role based at headquarters in Smyrna, Georgia.
The General Counsel will serve as the company’s senior-most legal advisor, partnering closely with the executive team to guide legal strategy and support the organization’s continued growth. This role will oversee all legal matters across the business, including contract negotiation, risk management, litigation, compliance, and corporate governance.
A key focus for this leader will be managing and negotiating complex construction and commercial contracts, ensuring the company is well-positioned to mitigate risk while maintaining strong client and partner relationships.
The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of legal experience with strong exposure to construction law and employment law.
Key qualifications include:
- Deep understanding of construction industry contracts and risk structures (critical requirement)
- Proven ability to negotiate complex commercial agreement
- Strong knowledge of employment law, OSHA considerations, and workforce-related issues
- Experience managing litigation and outside counsel
- Ability to operate independently in a lean environment
- Track record of advising executive leadership in a business-facing capacity
- Experience supporting multi-state operations
- Familiarity with insurance, bonding, and risk management frameworks
Education Requirement — Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active bar membership required; Georgia admission preferred or willingness to obtain
