Atlanta Job Market Heading into 2022: What You Can Do About It

After a wild ride in 2021, it looks like the Atlanta job market is heading back to a full recovery in 2022.

Job growth has remained strong. We’ve all seen it – “now hiring” messages are all around us. While this could be partly a result of “The Great Resignation” and “The Great Retirement,” we’ve seen ourselves the growth in companies in our area, which has resulted in a need for new employees. It’s truly a year like no other. Companies are hiring for new positions, positions they’ve never needed before, and working to find employees to replace those retiring and leaving. It’s a competition to find new leaders, but it’s also a challenge to keep the strong leaders you have and ensure employees stay.

The Georgia Department of Labor reports that our unemployment rate is at an all-time low, down to 3.1% at the beginning of November. Employ Georgia is reporting close to 200,000 job listings right now. Everything is on the rise.

So what can you do about it?

If you’re hiring, it’s time to get competitive. It’s a strong Atlanta job market, but it’s also a candidate-driven market. Nadine shares more about what we’ve seen here.

If you’re hiring with the rest of Atlanta, it’s time to take a look at your recruiting strategies and make sure you stand out as a company.

The interesting thing is, with remote work on the rise, companies in Atlanta are able to look outside of Atlanta for candidates/employees. It has created both new opportunities and new challenges. Take advantage of this. Companies utilizing remote recruiting (and remote work options) are thriving.

As we head into the new year, the Atlanta job market will continue to grow and change. It’s time to grow and change with it.
